Nadia Washington
Training and Technical Assistance Consultant
Nadia Washington met Be Strong Families in 2014 when she was working in Philadelphia for Northeast Treatment Centers (NET) as a Strengthening Families Coordinator and fell in love with Parent Cafés. When she was promoted to Director of Community Engagement at NET, she redoubled her efforts to reach as many staff and families as possible with the Strengthening Families™ Protective Factors. Be Strong Families recruited her as a staff member when she returned to her hometown of Washington, D.C. in 2018.
Nadia currently serves as a Training Consultant at Be Strong Families. She also staffs Be Strong Families’ two East Coast Regional Parent Engagement Advisory groups—Philly PLAN (Parent Leaders Action Network) and Washington, D.C.’s RPEA Dynamic Collaborators
Her prior career experience includes having been a junior high school teacher, and multiple positions in child welfare, including five years as a frontline case manager and three years as a program manager—including for a D.C.-area Family-to-Family Initiative.
Nadia earned a BA in Psychology from Howard University and is currently working on her master’s. She enjoys spending time in the kitchen and preparing new foods for her family. She is the hard-working mother of three—Chanelle 17, Chad 11, and Charese 8—and lives with her children in Waldorf, Maryland.
