Shirley Davis
Training and Technical Assistance Consultant
Shirley Davis grew up in foster care and knows firsthand how important it is to equip parents, foster parents, professionals, and youth in care to have connections, to have knowledge, and to find their resilience. She has lived in many different placement types, such as traditional foster care, group homes, and residential placements. This gives Shirley an inside perspective on how the system functions and what people inside the system need to uncover their unique skills. Every time that Shirley goes to host a Café, she gets as much as she gives. She came to Be Strong Families by being a parent leader, a table host, and a Café Host. She joined the team as a Parent Leader hosting Cafés in Chicagoland in 2015.
Shirley lives in Englewood, an inner-city neighborhood in Chicago. She has two sons and is also a fur mommy. She enjoys singing karaoke and spending time with her family and friends, and loves stepping.
“It’s my job as leader of my family to keep reminding everyone of what my Pastor once said: ‘Your best is not good enough if better is available.’ — Pastor Clifford Turner.”
