Tynisha Wright
Training and Technical Assistance Consultant
Tynisha Wright hails from Washington, D.C. and is the proud mother of three children—Tivon, Jade and Joseph. In 2008, Tynisha was laid off from her job with the Department of Agriculture and found herself depressed and frustrated with trying to access resources for herself and her family. She quickly learned the skills of advocacy and how to maneuver her way through systems to access the support and resources needed for her family. This experience led to Tynisha’s curiosity and passion to serve families with experiences similar to her own. For the next 10 years, Tynisha facilitated parent engagement/advocacy work with parents and families throughout the District.
Currently, Tynisha is a Parent-Family Engagement Leader and Executive Board Member at AppleTree Early Learning Public Charter School, where her daughter is a student. She supports all of the activities of the school’s nine network campuses. Tynisha passionately serves parents through her advocacy and engagement work with the Bainum Foundation and Be Strong Families, where she is also a Board Member. The Director of Family Engagement at Appletree encouraged Tynisha to attend parent cafes. Once Tynisha experienced the Cafés, she became instrumental in implementing Parent Cafés in several D.C. schools and other D.C. agencies.
Tynisha Wright is a resilient, outspoken and compassionate leader. She is an advocate for parents and is someone we all should know!
Tynisha holds a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Maryland in Eastern Shore. In her spare time, Tynisha enjoys dancing, shopping and showing her children the sites and culture of Washington, D.C.
“Our family is a circle of strength founded on faith, joined and kept in love by God, together forever.”
